107: even more card games.

the original plan after finishing gx was to watch the episodes of duel monsters that i missed and finish off 5Ds, but zexal got in the way.
my thoughts so far. i'm only on episode 4.

106: mema's feels about yu-gi-oh! gx [spoiler warning]

i planned never to watch this series. never ever. at first because i just didn't want think that it was still yu-gi-oh without yugi in it. bearing in mind this is when i was around ten and i didn't really understand. i'm honestly really glad that someone went on and on and on about it enough to make me want to see it for myself. i watched the first episode wanting it to be awful but it wasn't. i finished all one hundred and eighty episodes in three-ish weeks. it was that good. this is kinda to recap to myself what exactly i just watched. i have no idea how much sense it will make.

season one;

jaden's super adorable.

so the story starts out with jaden bumping into yugi. yugi muto. already, my childhood grudge against this show has been rendered completely pointless because yugi was there and (as i'd find out much much later) he was a major plot point. nice.

so jaden gets into duel academy, which turns out is owned by kaiba. seto kaiba: the ultimate bamf. he makes friends with syrus who is just the most adorable thing (for now) and chumley who says weird things like 'lishus' and talking about grilled cheese far too often, but is voiced by ted lewis who is the greatest voice actor of all time. (he's fuckin' bakura /and/ jack atlas. can't get more bamf than that.) jaden also kinda makes friends with alexis who kinda has a thing for him, but she's just the generic yu-gi-oh girl and i spend most of the time calling her 'the boobs' because if she were real she would have terrible back problems 'cos of those things.

this is chazz. i love him. so. very. much.

we also meet chazz. fuckin' chazz. i love chazz. he's the bad guy that isn't a bad guy. like kaiba but with less money. (but also quite a lot of money. somehow.)

throughout season one jaden battles people and does things which eventually leads to the sacred beasts being found by some guy whose name i cannot remember (thats how great a villain he was. i forgot his name. would never happen with marik.) that had a weird machine that looks kinda like porky from earthbound. jaden kicks this guy's ass and saves everyone. also, his teacher turns out to be dead or something. i don't really remember. there was a cat. 

one time bastion was a tiger
and it was awesome.

chumley leaves to work with pegasus (who is also a major bamf) and then no more ted lewis. sigh.

season two;

honestly, this season was kinda bad. the addition of hassleberry kinda made up for the shitty plot. he has dino dna.  he is part dinosaur. 

zane goes off to do 'underground duels' and gets electric shocks that make him angry so he climbs a mountain, gets a new deck and turns evil. i didn't get it either. 

bastion got really excited about science
and took his clothes off. 

this is sartorius. he's really freaky.

the main antagonist was a guy called sartorius who had a weird mullet thing that could defy gravity. he entered duel academy and turned the blue dorm into a white dorm and made everyone going a little weird. jaden kicked his ass too. 

hassleberry was turned into a dinosaur and syrus was turned into a car. i'm still not sure why but it was awesome.

aster phoenix was around too and used destiny heros, which are kinda like jaden's elemental heros but different. he was kinda cool, i guess.

oh, and there was a thing called the gx tournament which chazz won because jaden was too busy saving the world.

season three;

one of the first times we see jesse he is totally eye-sexing jaden.
also the guy in the background. he's a thing. 

now this is where it got super badass. 

first off, new characters. axel was a kinda tough guy with a weird duel disk and i didn't like him much. jim had the best accent ever (australian, mate!) and was bffs with a crocodile called shirley that he carried around on his back. adrian's ears were too big and i didn't like him at all. and jesse anderson. i don't have enough words to say how much i love jesse. 

these guys come from other duel schools (i didn't even know there were others except north academy. how many are there, and how do i get into one!?) along with a teacher called viper who was awful and i hated him but turned out to be the first of many antagonists in this season. yay.

viper and his evil lava lamp.

viper has all of the students fitted with weird bands that steal their energy when they duel. he needs their energy for a creature in an evil lava lamp that says it will resurrect his son. that he stole while he was fighting in a war or something. i have no idea.

jaden kicks viper's ass to stop him collecting energy but it doesn't matter because the thing in the evil lava lamp has enough energy to do bad stuff now. so it transports everyone to another dimension. fun. 

he was only missing for twenty episodes and this happened.
SCIENCE.

the evil thing takes over a child named marcel and turns half the school into 'duel ghouls' which are basically zombies. by 'half the school' i mean everyone except jaden, jesse, jim, axel, adrian, alexis and hassleberry. i think. might have been more. after a while bastion turns up and has really long hair for some reason! wooooooo! 

the guys have a chat with zane and aster in the real world place thing and discover that jesse needs the rainbow dragon card to get them home! but jesse doesn't have the card and the card doesn't exist because no one had found the stone tablet yet. or so he thought. it had been found! just then! perfect timing! so they make the card super quick and send it through to him.

jaden and jesse have to tag duel with evil marcel or yubel which is the evil in marcel. i think this is when we find this out. i can't even remember. but i really love yubel. to end the duel jesse kinda does a stupid and sends everyone back to the real world place thing but he doesn't go with them! neither does adrian 'cos he's an asshole and buggers off on his own. 

boyfriends.

when everyone gets back jaden is really sad because he misses his boyfriend jesse. so everyone goes to the other dimension AGAIN to find him. although jaden was gonna go on his own but nope everyone followed him. jaden kicks some guys asses and rides some sonic ducks and gets angry and kills all of his friends! hooray! well done, jaden! 

now that jaden is alone and angry his dark side comes out and it has his own name and everything.

the supreme king was a pretty badass character, but not really badass enough. maybe because i was watching the dubbed episodes and 4kids kinda ruin the badassness of things. but he was still pretty badass. i couldn't concentrate on the badass much because his armour looked like boobs. i mean it really looked like boobs. as the supreme king jaden killed two more of his friends, jim and axel. axel, however, managed to stop the evil king by squeezing his nipple beating him in a duel. kinda. 

so some more stuff happens that i can't remember and adrian kills the only person that ever loved him and promotes his new cereal "exodi-os". 

everyone finds a giant door and zane and jaden duel by it. jaden is now afraid to use polymerisation because he killed people with it so zane kicks his ass (for like the millionth time or something, it's like the yugi/kaiba thing.) and then the door opens and the best thing ever happens. jesse gets evil and sexy.

super sexy evil yubel jesse. yep.

zane and jesse duel. zane has some kinda heart attack and dies leaving syrus pretty upset. (i never mentioned it but they're brothers. kinda important, that.) 

something happened with sexy evil jesse and adrian too and i think adrian died. you can tell i didn't like adrian.

jaden duels sexy evil jesse and manages to use the rainbow dragon card to free him from yubel and they have some cute little moments because they are cute and definitely in love. jaden then has to duel yubel, who turns out to be some kinda evil spirit from a card or something that jaden sent to space to stop it being evil but she thought that he was trying tog et rid of her. it was all very confusing and the dubbed episodes ran out and i had to watch subtitles which made it worse.

so jaden ends the duel with yubel not by kicking her ass but by fusing himself with her, which i think might be against the rules because he's not a duel monsters card, but nevertheless he did it and it works and now yubel lives in jaden's head and his eyes do that sexy colour change thing. everyone who died comes back to life and goes back to duel academy. except zane. jaden doesn't go back either, but he wasn't dead. bastion wasn't dead but also doesn't return to the real life place thing. he stays with his muscley girlfriend. i don't know why.

the last episode of season three wasn't dubbed but it was mostly just flashbacks anyway. flashbacks of everyone missing jaden. syrus wishes on a star for jaden to come back and he does and it doesn't really make much sense. at least, it didn't to me.

season four;

this season wasn't dubbed and therefore wasn't messed with by 4kids so was a lot darker than the other three. that didn't make it good. jim, jesse and axel all went back to their own schools for a while. jim never returned, which made me sad. he was great. some guy called fujiwara turned up and no one knew who he was but they kinda did but also didn't (i have no idea) and he set fire to some trading cards. atticus wore his evil mask from season one again and a guy called mr. t turned up everywhere and i didn't like him.

chazz had a bowtie and aster wore
the same thing he always wears.

each character had two episodes to themselves for some reason. 

i didn't pay much attention to alexis' episodes because she's boring and has a terrible deck, but it involved her thing for jaden and tag duels. 

in his episodes, chazz got a job with aster and wore a bow tie and became famous. stuff happened that involved a card and aster fired chazz and was then beaten by him in a duel. it was kinda okay i guess. 

syrus' episodes were odd. zane came back. he was found washed up on the island. i don't know how he came back from the other dimension or how he didn't stay dead after dying of a heart attack, but he came back an duelled some guy which was stupid because of his heart. syrus stepped in and duelled the guy on his brother's behalf and kicked his ass, which is weird for syrus because he's kinda sucky.

crowler had some episodes too. i don't even think i've mentioned crowler yet. he's a teacher and has the weirdest face ever. his episodes were mostly "oh no my students are leaving na no ne~"

then the plot decided to come back. axel came back from no where and duelled mr t and kinda died after having some visions of his mother dying in a fire. sartorius duelled jaden and lost (i imagine because he disappeared afterwards and jaden usually wins)

and then jesse came back and he and jaden stole a boat.

atticus duelled fujiwara who reappeared after being missing for most of the season.
he was wearing atticus' badass mask and stuff. atticus lost and had a bit of a gay moment over fujiwara.

jesse and jaden then stepped in and three way duelled him. jesse lost. jaden won. jesse had a bit of a gay moment over jaden. he has a lot of those. they spent most of the duel eye sexing each other.

jaden duels some guy called the darkness who is really friggin' creepy. he has some help from yubel and eventually realises that everyone has a special card that helps you get through yay! so he beats the darkness  and the world is saved and everyone was all "yay jaden wooo we love you"

and then it was time for everyone to graduate! (except bastion cos he was in the other dimension and zane because he graduated two years ago and hassleberry because he was younger than everyone else. also i thought atticus was older than everyone else (he was pictured with zane a lot, i'd expected him to graduate then, but i guess he was missing for a while))

jaden doesn't say goodbye to jesse and i was really sad about it. in fact, he doesn't say goodbye to anyone. he starts to leave but winged kuriboh take him off to yugi's deck and then suddenly he's back in time duelling yugi (and then yami) in some weird time that stands still and is just for them. the duel's outcome isn't shown but i belive that yugi won. i mean, he has all three godcards. yes, jaden might have beaten the sacred beasts but he has never been up against the real god cards. yugi totally won that duel. it's not spoilers if it's obvious.

Midnight--

Jake grumbled to himself as he walked home from work. He’d had a particularly bad day and was very much looking forward to getting home to his girlfriend and just spending the night sitting on his ass watching reality television. He walked along the path towards his house and through the front door of his house.

“I’m home!” he said, hanging up his coat and making his way into the living room where Quinn was sitting in a large chair messing around with her phone as usual.

“Hey” she smiled back, looking up at him as he passed behind her.

“I’m just gonna get a drink okay,” Jake said, walking through to the kitchen, grabbing a glass and opening the door of the fridge. “Did you buy more juice?”

“Nope, sorry. Forgot.” Quinn replied without even looking up from her phone. Of course she hadn’t. She could buy chocolate, cake, cushions, new curtains, underwear or God knows what for herself but she could never remember his damn juice.

He got himself a glass of water and carried it back through to the living room. He placed it on a table and then slumped himself down on the sofa, grabbing the television remote and changing the channel.

“Oi,” snapped Quinn. “I was watching that!”

“No you’re not! You’re on your bloody phone again.”

“I was just about to put it down and-”

“No you weren’t.” he cut her off. “You never put it down. It’s all you do. Phone this, phone that. Who are you even talking to? Certainly not me.”

This is me attempting to write a full story for the horror movie trailer my group was making in Media Studies. I found it too awkward to write because a friend and I were playing the main characters. Whoops.

Pokemon is a franchise that has touched more than one generation of fans, and because of this there are obviously going to be younger ones who have never played blue/red/yellow because they were too young at the time, but doesn't that really matter? The newer games are just as good (if not better) than previous instalments, so as long as the fans are enjoying playing the game then they /are/ fans. Ugh.
